Fear the Grumpkin!

The other night I was given the concept of a really grumpy fairy, and I thought it was funny. It tickled me long enough to make a PC race that's unique in a number of ways. I called him a grumpkin (which I'm apparently going to be known by around the house from now on). Yes, yes. I know it sounds a bit silly, but I think it could be a lot of fun to play. I tried to turn some of my preconceptions about fey on their head while maintaining the mechanics of being tiny and winged. I also wanted the little guy to be viable in a melee support role if the player chose, and I think they can do that, too.

Still can't handle being called a grumpkin? Fine. In terran, the language of creatures of the earth, they're called Oroshnik, which sounds especially cool if you roll the r and tighten the 'nik' sound, making it more like 'neek.'

Anyway, enjoy, have a great weekend, and don't forget to submit your critters or critter ideas to rpg_ike@unnatural20.com for next Friday.

Cool. I like the blend of ablities, they help me take him more seriously. I'm kind of thinking about playing an Oroshnick for a new campaign, but that grapple modifier is bound to make some fights pretty ugly. But can I really turn down the chance to be a living cannonball? ;)

Cool concept Ike. Flying dour fay-folk. Should make for a good encounter!

fantastic idea! for some reason, your grumpkin reminds me of Tingle from the Zelda series. only surly and even creepier.
